Paula and Megan are the KZN champions, and also were 13th in the country.

St Dominics Newcastle participated in the annual Curro KwaZulu-Natal Regional competition for WRO (World Robotics Olympiad) SA, which took place on September 1 at Curro Mt Richmore in Ballito.

Learners from different schools across the province battled it out in their respective age categories, to climb up the national ranking list and receive an invitation to the national rounds.

There the coveted national team is chosen.

Megan Furter and Paula van Zyl had the advantage with their programming and robot, scoring the most points in their division and earning a gold medal.

They returned home as the KZN champions in the Senior High age group (16 to 19 years).

Their success is the result of three years of dedication, hard work and support from coaches, friends and family.
