Newcastle SAPS visit special needs school on Casual Day – (Gallery)

The theme of the day was 'Be a Hero' and aimed to inform and educate children that SAPS cares and protects and encouraged children to report any form of abuse to the police.

SAPS Amajuba Cluster Peer Educators and SAPS Officials gathered at Bumbisizwe Special School in Madadeni Section 5 on September 7 for Casual Day.

The school caters for children with disabilities and has an enrollment of more than 200 children, aged between six years to 16 years.

“Children were warned to never ever agree to go with a person they do not know and even if they knew a person they should report and get permission from their parents first.”

While at the school, SAPS members were pleased to learn the basics of sign language.

Among the members included, the Department of Community Safety & Liaison,  Madadeni Community Policing Forum and Social Crime Prevention.

The Principal Miss Mkhize, was pleased to see the children render song and dance as well as speeches and entertainment.

The Principal of Bumbisizwe Special School, Ms Mkhize was happy to have SAPS visit the school.

Members also handed out gifts to the children to conclude an eventful day.
