Concern that hunting dog scourge is back as Spring blooms

It is not clear if the authorities are able to take action against the hunters

Illegal dog hunting is continuing in central Dundee. Several dogs were recently seen on the golf course. Golfers are concerned that the dogs and their hunters are easily able to access the course through the tennis courts and the old quarry area, adjacent to Pro Nobis.

Duiker, often seen on the golf course, are common targets for the hunters. Tandy Street residents say it is a common sight to see sometime a pack of around 15 dogs and their handlers making their way towards the quarry area early on Sunday mornings.

Dogs in the area put up a terrific barking cacophony as the lean hunting dogs stroll down the road.  It appears as if the authorities are powerless to take action.

The golf club hopes to soon take steps to step up security and the fencing boundary to keep the dogs out.
