Parts of Dannhauser without lights and water
No electricity in the area has meant that the pumps can't be started to see where the burst is
The Dannhauser area is to be without water following a suspected burst pipe in the area.
The Amajuba District Municipality confirmed that the area will not have water for some time. “We suspect that we have a burst pipe on the asbestos pumping main line towards Dannhauser Reservoirs.
“According to the plant operator, he saw the asbestos meter turning fast and the PVC line meter turning anti clockwise around 2:30am. This is normally a burst on the asbestos line. Our reservoir is almost empty and we had to close the outlets,” a statement from the municipality read.
The maintenance team is looking for the burst but no electricity in the area has meant that the pumps can’t be started to see where the burst is.
“The team is doing all they can to identify the problem and fix it urgently,” the statement concluded.
