Tracey and Keegan ace Vryheid’s Tennis Championship
This year the winners are Tracey Steffensen and Keegan Gevers from Michaelis.
Vryheid Tennis Championships: On October 15, the annual Vryheid Tennis Championship was played at the Lawn Tennis Club. Eleven boys and eleven girls from Lucas Meyer and Michaelis participated in the tournament. The players were grouped according to their abilities so that the stronger players faced one another. As the day progressed, the standard of the game improved and, towards the end of the day, the players were playing a competitive and enjoyable game. This year the winners are Tracey Steffensen and Keegan Gevers from Michaelis. Thank you to all the players who participated and thank you to our parents and coaches who encourage the players to play. Well done players and keep on practicing so that you are ready for next year!

Interschool’s tennis tournament: Every year the tennis season comes to a close with the German Tennis Championship between Lüneburg, Wittenberg and Michaelis. Each school had four boys and four girls taking part and every player played two games of singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches. We would like to thank the parents who took the time to watch and encourage the children. Congratulations to our Michaelis boys and girls for taking home all the trophies, namely, the best girls’ team, the best boys’ team as well as being the overall winners of the championship. We are very proud of your achievements! A heartfelt thank you to the Michaelis Governing Body under the guidance of Hagen Gevers, parents from the school and the tennis club for revamping the facilities.
