The locals visited the landfill site on the R103 to dump waste that was not collected by Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality. They are then informed by the security guard on duty that they would be charged an entry fee of R20.

The Estcourt News enquired from the local municipality about when this practice had been introduced and according to Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize, it has not.

“The allegation will be investigated accordingly and perpetrators will be brought to book if it is a practice. This is not acceptable and it should be noted that a report will be requested from the security company management,” said Mr Mkhize.
