WEEKEND WEATHER UPDATE: Can Newcastle expect hot conditions to continue?

This week, most parts of the country experienced, what is believed to be the highest maximum temperatures recorded for 2018, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
While in Newcastle, maximum temperatures soared close to 38 degrees.
Look at these new records for highest max temp (°C) measured on 14 Nov 2018:

Postmansburg – 40.4
Klerksdorp – 38.0
Kroonstad – 36.9

Can Newcastillians expect these sweltering conditions to continue for the weekend?
Here is what the weather experts have to say:
The service tweeted earlier that from Sunday and into next week, the eastern half of the country is expected to receive scattered showers.
This would be welcomed after the heatwave experienced over the past week.

A few upper air systems will affect the country from Sunday into next week. At this point the eastern half of the country will benefit the most with scattered showers and thundershowers expected in most areas. Keep an eye on our social media the next few days for updates.
