Celebrating sisterhood and upliftment

The non-profit organisation is the brainchild of Lusanda Mhlungu.

Sisterhood and the upliftment of young girls were celebrated when the Ilawa Lethu programme was recently launched.
The non-profit organisation is the brainchild of Lusanda Mhlungu. It is her wish to give especially teen girls a positive platform which will help them to grow into confident young ladies.
To show solidarity, the girls were all dressed in pink and black at the launch held at Sicilian Country Estate, Dannhauser. There was a great response with Siphelele Ndokuyo of Boschkloof Combined School commenting: “By joining this sisterhood organisation I hope to walk in the steps of Lusanda who is always willing to help others, the event was exciting and we really enjoyed ourselves.”

Black and pink was the colour of the day.

“The sisterhood programme has taught us how to carry ourselves as young girls and I hope that we will grow in numbers,” said Ayanda Mdlalose from Sebenzakusakhanya Secondary school. The main guest speakers were Sanelisiwe Mnyandu from the Department of Social Development, Pastor Abegail Ngobene, Nqobile Cele Zomnotho, Hlengiwe Hadebe and Duma Shange from the Department of Health.
