New Sasol opens for business in Newcastle

Identified as a prime business location, the site was an obvious choice that made good business sense to the Kings Group shareholders.

In July 2018, many residents of Newcastle were saddened when the iconic King’s Hotel on the corner of Harding and Hardwick Streets was demolished.

Little did they know a grander business venture was to take its place. In just five months, the piqued curiosity of Newcastle residents’ is finally sated as the new Sasol Kings Filling Station is completed and open for business.

Identified as a prime business location, the site was an obvious choice that made good business sense to the Kings Group shareholders.

“Due to the high volumes of traffic on both Harding and Hardwick Streets and the lack of filling stations in the vicinity, it is an ideal spot for a filling station,” says management of the Kings Group.

What got the proverbial ball rolling was a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and an assessment which was then issued by the government authority.

Thereafter an application was lodged with the Department of Energy for the licences to sell petroleum products. These were granted in April this year.

“One of many Sasol Oil preferred contractors, H Kampman Construction was awarded the tender for the construction work and it appointed several local sub-contractors. Construction commenced on July 24 and practical completion concluded on December 7.”

The Kings Group based its decision to become a franchisee of Sasol Oil as it believes Sasol is a truly South African brand which produces high quality fuel. The filling station is anticipated to contribute to Newcastle’s future economic growth and local employment.

“Under the leadership of Filling Station Manager, Dirk Badenhorst, 28 local personnel are employed.”

The station has 10 fuel dispensing pumps and offers Sasol 10ppm diesel, Sasol 95 octane unleaded petrol and Sasol 93 unleaded petrol.

The best news is that motorists and the general public can look forward to excellent service and dedication from the Sasol Kings Filling Station, thanks to a convenience store fully stocked and managed by efficient staff.

“We are passionate about business and customer service and are committed to make it the brightest, cleanest and most vibrant filling station in the area. Our goal is to be the filling station of choice because of our customer service and efficiency.”

“It is our aim to make sure Sasol Kings Filling Station becomes known as the preferred filling station which caters for the needs of the community.”
