Makhosini Nkosi has tendered his resignation as Newcastle’s Mayor.

A text message sent by Nkosi confirmed he had resigned from his post at the head of the municipality, to pursue ‘a career in the legal profession’.

He joins the Durban Bar of Advocates on January 15.

According to the message, Nkosi ‘resigned voluntarily without any pressure or instruction from the African National Congress’.
