Councillor cares about women’s hygiene

"You are our future leaders. As the government, we need to take extra care of you", said Cllr Xaba.

Councillor Hope Xaba, and the Government Communication and Information System ( GCIS) have donated 100 sanitary towels to young underprivileged girls in Sibongile. Young girls were also introduced to the war room as a place of safety and a place where they can always come to confide in their ward committee members if they ever faced any problems at home, be it domestic or social grant-related issues. “You are our future leaders. As the government, we need to take extra care of you. We have teamed up with different stakeholders to help you with sanitary towels because we all come from different backgrounds and some of you can’t afford to buy to these necessities,” said Councillor Xaba. Talks were given by nurses from the local hospital on hygiene and on how young girls should ‘carry themselves’.
