The blood service is calling on all donors to donate blood urgently especially during this time of the year.

The SANBS held a donor drive yesterday at the St James Anglican Church.

Though the sun was extremely hot, a good number of donors came through to give blood.

The blood supply in South Africa’s second-most populous province is at just 1.8 days of Group O stock, according to the South African National Blood Service (SANBS).

Simpiwe Nyembe felt the pinch of the needle as she was donating blood yesterday.

Musa Masala has donated five times already and will continue saving lives by donating blood.
