eMadlangeni Municipality officials stated once the investigation was finalised, the public would be informed of the action to be taken against those involved.

A suspected tender fraud scam has been unearthed in Utrecht.

The eMadlangeni Local Municipality has opened a case with Utrecht SAPS, after a service provider was paid hundreds of thousands of Rand before rendering a single service.

“It came to the municipality’s attention that there was an irregular expenditure in the form of payment of R417 000 to a service provider prior to rendering a service…” read a press release from eMadlangeni Municipality.

The alleged tender fraud and corruption relates to the White City Road Rehabilitation Project, which involves the upgrade of Main Road, Poplar Street and Park Street.
