Protests outside Dundee Police Station

Community members call for release of men charged with murder

Police officers are accustomed to dealing with protest action, but never on their own doorstep.

Today, however, Dundee Police were forced to close the gates of the station, as angry community members descended there.

It is believed that the community were calling for the release of men, arrested in connection with the deaths of two suspected armed robbers in Sibongile.

One of the men was shot and the other assaulted by community members after they were caught breaking into a home in the Croydon Farm area, Sibongile.

The situation outside the station has quietened down now, however, some members of the community are still sitting outside.
