Encouraging words from Acting Premier during high school visit

Bonokuhle High School did not fare well in the 2018 national senior certificate (NSC) examinations, thus the Acting Premier stressed the importance of working on strategies

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality hosted a school functionality monitoring programme as part of national government’s call to make education a priority.

This year started with a bang, when the Acting Premier Sihle Zikalala, who is the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, visited Bonokuhle High School in Loskop on January 15.

The purpose of the visit was to monitor progress in schools and check the school turnaround strategy to better results for the national senior certificate (NSC) final examination in 2019.

The Acting Premier was accompanied by members of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Legislature, officials from the Education Department, the Mayor of the Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality Jabulile Mbele and other councillors.

This visit was a success. Mr Zikalala spoke vehemently to the educators and the learners about the importance of education. He encouraged the class of 2019 to be focused so that they can pass well.

Furthermore, he told the learners to begin this academic year with new hopes and a positive attitude. Bonokuhle High School did not fare well in the 2018 national senior certificate (NSC) examinations, thus the Acting Premier stressed the importance of working on strategies to better the conditions.

He added that teamwork among various stakeholders is what made things possible for the best performing schools.  Another winning strategy is that the school should cluster with those schools that did well.

Mr Zikalala urged learners to work hard and start to study now, so they can receive good results at the end of the year.
