For pupils at Outfall Primary, 2019 got off to a wonderful start thanks to the generosity of a few good souls.

Monique van der Walt of M&M Services and Repairs was touched by the plight of learners at the school and knew that she had to do something for them. The school is in a rural area and has two teachers and close to 30 pupils.

Receiving little to no assistance from the department, the school tries its best to provide quality education to the learners who school there.

Monique approached local businesses in Dundee, asking them to help her make a difference, and make a difference they did.
Deans Auto Spares, Docrats Hardware, Build It Hardware, Dundee Pre-Primary, Magda Corbitt, Home Sweet Home, Ismails Trading Store, Dr and Mrs Sookraj together with Monique and her husband, Jacques, ensured that the learners were well-taken care of.

They received pencil cases with all the stationery they would need, as well as watches, soccer balls and face towels.
They also received basic toiletries as well as toothbrushes and toothpaste.

There was a sweet treat too for learners as they also each received a gift bag with sweets in it.

Each learner also received a new pair of school socks while four learners each received a new uniform and school shoes. The gifts didn’t end there.
The school also received toys and stationery for the classrooms, making the teachers’ jobs a lot easier. Some of the little ones were apprehensive at first, but once they were told they were getting gifts, the smiles could be seen on their faces.

“Thank you to all who contributed towards the donations. “You have made a difference in the lives of these pupils. We have so much to be grateful for,” said Monique.

Thanks to the generosity of a few good souls, the learners at Outfall Primary can now go into the year happy, healthy and hungry for success.
