‘Vicious’ speed bumps get up motorists’ noses
At night time, motorists are put at risk, say those who use the route regularly

Two ‘vicious’ speed bumps on the Wasbank/Elandslaagte road have put motorists’ noses out of joint. The height of the humps forces motorists to come to almost a complete standstill.
Protest action blocks Wasbank/Elandslaagte route to Ladysmith …
If they do not, some cars will lose their sumps, motorists told the Courier. “We are not sure if the height of these humps is within regulations,” said one motorist, who declined to be named.
Another commented that the placing of the humps is ‘dangerous’ as the area was the scene of protests recently where members of the local community placed rocks and branches across the road.

“At night time, with cars having to virtually stop, thieves can easily target motorists and who will come to their assistance?” said another motorist.
The Transport Department will be contacted for comment.
