Motorists to fork out more for petrol in May
The data relieved shows a possible increase of around 55 cents per litre in petrol prices and around five cents more for diesel.
If the latest data received by the Central Energy Fund is anything to go by, motorists could be in for another petrol price hike in May.
This comes after motorists were faced with an increase of a whopping R1.32 per litre in April.
The data relieved shows a possible increase of around 55 cents per litre in petrol prices and around five cents more for diesel.
Expected petrol price for May 2019:
Inland regions:
Petrol: R16.68
Diesel: R14.92
Why is the petrol price set to increase, again?
The increase in the demand for crude oil is the main key component for the increases according to the markets.
The price of a barrel of crude oil is currently sitting at $70.
The country saw the highest petrol price last year, when it reached R17.08 per litre.
Should the increase in May be carried out, it would become the second highest increase in under a year.
