New police station in Colenso officially opens

Minister of Police Bheki Cele handed over the keys to the new police station to Captain Kalman Johnson

On Tuesday (April 23), Minister of Police Mr Bheki Cele officially opened the new police station in Colenso.

Minister Cele said that the main aim of this police station is to fight crime in the area, for instance illegal drugs, women being killed, car hijackings and break-ins. The aforementioned are the criminal activities the Minister highlighted and said he wants to put an end to.

Mr Cele handed over the keys to the new police station to Captain Kalman Robin Johnson, who is the station commander. The Minister added that he wants to see the doors to this police station always being open to assist community members with whatever complaints they may have.

Other prominent guests at the opening included Mayor Vincent Madlala, Deputy General  Commissioner Mr Masemula, Acting Provincial Commissioner Mr Mkhwanazi and Colenso councillor Thuli Hadebe. Community Policing Forum (CPF) Provincial Board Chairperson Mr Mathenjwa was also there.
