Friends, family and members of the local pool community gathered at Sandy’s in Glencoe on Saturday for a memorial pool tournament celebrating the life of Ramesh “Rammy” Ramdayal, who was tragically shot and killed earlier this year.

The tournament attracted a strong field of players and supporters, who came together not only to compete but also to remember a well-known and respected member of the community.

Community unites in tribute

Organisers thanked Ash Khan for initiating and sponsoring the tournament, while Sandy’s was recognised for hosting the event and providing the venue and facilities.

Rammy’s sons, Brayand and Brandon Ramdayal, attended the event, with organisers describing their presence as a heartfelt tribute to their late father.

One of the organisers said the overwhelming support from players, spectators, stallholders and volunteers made the occasion especially meaningful.

“It was a truly memorable day in honour of our friend. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, from the players and spectators to the stallholders, Sandy’s team and the Lone Star team. We are deeply grateful for the positive response from the community,” the organiser said.

Organisers hope the memorial tournament will become an annual event celebrating Ramdayal’s life and recognising his contribution to the local pool community.

Experienced player Duran Dheena emerged as the tournament winner, taking home the top cash prize and an impressive trophy.
