Millions of litres of water wasted at Estcourt’s Caravan Park

Gross water wastage can be seen at the Caravan Park as a toilet has been leaking since December

It’s been four months since a water leak at the Caravan Park was reported to the local municipality. What is rather unfortunate is to see that the pipe gushing water in a toilet has not yet been repaired.

In December last year, a reporter from the Estcourt News notified the emergency centre of the leak, this is not a slow leak. At the beginning of March, the water flow was again reported to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality’s Communication Department, so that it would be passed to the relevant department for repair.

However, more than a month later and the water continues to flow. The spray of water is so fast that one cannot enter or stand in front of the toilet door. Pools of stagnant water can be observed meters around the area.

It was noted that a security guard is present at the Caravan Park, refuse has been collected in bags and the grass has been cut, so hasn’t anyone else spotted this incessant leak that sounds like a shower? Isn’t the local municipality concerned about the gross water wastage?

How about if regular inspections are done at municipal properties? These and other questions were sent to the Communications Department for a response, none was received.
