Elections 2019: Voting starts in a jovial manner in Endumeni
The day started on the chilly side but the temperature rose as the sun climbed higher
Voting started in earnest at 7am as locals queued up before the voting stations opened for South Africa’s sixth poll since 1994.
There was a jovial atmosphere at the Dundee Junior School where voters exchanged light-hearted banner. The DA and ANC were out in force with information tables set up. There was a jovial atmosphere with former Mayor, Thulani Mahaye, of the ANC jokingly asking the DA’s Councillor, Anthon Raubenheimer for a DA T-shirt.

The only concern was that I.D. books were not being scanned. However, this appeared to have been sorted out by the time the IEC’s Avi Manraj arrived.
Those queuing up were not keen to say for who they would be voting for but all expressed their eagerness to ‘make a difference’.

The GOOD party had a table at Dundee Secondary’s voting station
Patricia De Lille’s Good Party set up a table outside the Dundee Secondary School voting station. ANC supporters were also out in force. The queue was not long as voters said that the service was ‘rapid’.
There was a brisk turn out at the Ethangeni School voting station this morning but it has now dwindled down to a trickle. Many voters there preferred not to be photographed.

Voting was also off to a rapid starrt in Glencoe and in Sithembile. However, as the sun rose, the queues of voters slowed. Sibongile also reported a brisk start where Mayor Mdluli will be voting later this morning.
