Meridian hosts family day
The community family day was to show our beautiful school to the community and our learners

Meridian Newcastle Independent School held a community family fun day on May 25, at the school.
The event was attended by learners, parents and local community members, who enjoyed the variety of entertainment and games that were available.
Meridian Newcastle Independent School Marketing Officer, Fezeka Sibisi, explained the purpose of the event:
“The community family day was to show our beautiful school to the community and to showcase our learners’ talents and what the school has to offer to learners.”
Children enjoyed jumping castles and warrior games, while parents and visitors were entertained by musical performances by the school’s learners, as well by community members.
Meridian Newcastle Independent School Executive Head, Mr Mazibuko said he was pleased with the day’s events.
“My highlight of the day was winning the netball game between the school staff and parents, because I scored all the goals,” he laughed. “The presence of all our sponsors added value to the day, because without sponsors and support from everyone, we can’t do anything.”
The day ended with a prize-giving, where winners won food vouchers, a cellphone and two lucky learners won school bursaries for the 2020 academic year.
The school thanked everyone who attended for their support.
