Farmers below the age of 40, within KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), are called upon to enter this prized competition.

Not only are there fantastic prizes to be won – such as a Toyota Hilux Single Cab, among other prizes – but the winner will also go on to represent KZN at the Toyota / Agri SA National Young Farmer of the Year competition.

Farmers eligible to enter can be owners, partners or even managers in or on a farm. The chief executive officer of Kwanalu, Sandy La Marque, said:

“We encourage all of our eligible members under 40 years old to enter this competition, recognising the great skill and entrepreneurial spirit we have here in KZN.”

The annual competition is open to males and females; it is also required that entrants be full members of their province’s agricultural union. This is how it will work: judging and evaluation of the farmers and their agricultural practices will take place in August this year.

The applicants will be evaluated on all aspects of their business, including their overall vision for the future of the farm or business.

The size of the farmer’s enterprise is taken into consideration, but the judging is based on excellence with regards to how the young farmer executes his day-to-day business practices – no matter how big or small the farm.

So if you think you have what it takes to scoop the title of ‘Kwanalu Young Farmer of the Year’ and meet all the requirements, then visit www.kwanalu.co.za for more information on how to enter.
