Political party posters still flying high after a month

Questions have risen about why the local municipality is not enforcing the by-laws

It’s more than a month since South Africans cast their votes in the national and general election on May 8.

For many the ink stain on the thumb nail may have faded but what still remains are the political party posters.
Some political parties have not yet removed posters, which according to the town’s by-laws should have been done 14 days after the elections.

The town’s by-laws, according to Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize, stated during a previous article, also allow a charge of R30 per poster if the party does not comply.

The Estcourt News inquired from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality about whether these by-laws are being enforced and if not, what are the plans to ensure that political party posters are removed. No response was received.
