ANC makes clean sweep in Ward 7 by-election

With its win in the by-elections, the ANC now claims 8 seats and the majority say over Endumeni Council.

The ANC has won yesterday’s Ward 7 by-election in Glencoe, and now controls all seven wards in Endumeni. This gives the party 8 of the 13 seats on Endumeni Council.

The DA won the majority of votes in the Town Hall Voting Station, but the ANC turned the tide with a larger portion of votes from the Glenridge Voting Station.

ANC candidate, Bashair Khan received 676 votes. The DA’s Lloyd Kgotshane received 467 votes, the IFP’s Sydney Ramsay received 253 votes and the EFF’s Pradesh Beharie received a paltry 21 votes. Voter turnout was said to be low however, with only 679 ballots cast out of around 3 521 registered voters in the ward.
