Bank partnership has Dundee July going at a gallop

They will also make various other contributions including support to informal traders, fashion designers and a prize for the best designer.

Preparations for the 2019 Dundee July are going at full gallop. Ithala SOC Limited has confirmed its support of the event as the official banking partner, a partnership that has lasted close to a decade.

The bank will put forward R100 000 towards the total stake of the Ithala International Race, and the field will include horses from as far afield as Lesotho, Mpumalanga, Free State and the Eastern Cape.

Ithala will also provide payment services for all winning jockeys and horse owners and an on-site ATM will make it easier for visitors to transact without having to leave the event precinct. Bank staff will ensure payouts run smoothly.

They will also make various other contributions including support to informal traders, fashion designers and a prize for the best designer.

Ithala’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Sandile Nxolo, said the renewal of the partnership had no major challenges because of the success of last year’s event, and a good working relationship Ithala has developed with the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation.

“Ithala has been a Dundee July sponsor for almost a decade and we look forward to a continued mutually beneficial relationship with the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Rural Horse Riding Association.”

KZN MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Hlengiwe Mavimbela said the department was honoured to have partners like Ithala on board for Dundee July, and appreciated Ithala’s contribution.

“We intend to develop the event further, with particular focus on infrastructure development, technical skills, contribution to economic growth and job creation and strategic links with SADC, BRICS and other countries with similar interests.”

Other key partners in the Dundee July are the Endumeni and Umzinyathi Municipalities, which have put their weight behind the success of the rural horse racing event.

The event takes place on July 20 in Dundee.
