
An alleged robber was killed by police during a shoot-out following a house robbery in Weenen on Tuesday evening (July 23).
An elderly businessman and his wife were attacked at their residential premises in Weenen. It is alleged that three armed suspects accosted the man as he was arriving home. The businessman was assaulted in his garage by two of the suspects.
The third entered the house and assaulted the man’s wife. He demanded cash and the safe key from her.
Police received a report of the robbery and responded to the scene. A shoot-out with the robbers ensued.

One of the suspects was killed during the shoot-out, while another was arrested after being shot and wounded. The third suspect handed himself over to police.
