Four men were arrested in Inanda and KwaMashu in connection with the brutal attack at a farm situated along the R103 close to Mooi River on April 7.
Lee-Anne Vickers – wife of dairy farmer Mr Vickers, who is the owner of Ballan Cross Farm – was victim to the attack and robbery.

The suspects, aged between 28 and 37, were on the run for three months before they were tracked down. Constable Nzimande from Mooi River police station is investigating this case of armed robbery.
“We have found that the vehicle was stolen and the cell-phone and ring could have easily been sold. One of the men is from Mooi River and the rest from the Durban area. We have caught all four suspects; three have been released after a court appearance, as the evidence was not strong enough for them to remain in custody,” explained Const Nzimande.
He added that one of the men was positively identified during an identification parade.
“I am in the process of planning one more such parade for the main role player suspect to be identified. This suspect is the one who is connected to all the men. We have found that he has a girlfriend in the area and that he was the one carrying the weapon, drove the car and attacked Mrs Vickers.”
Const Nzimande confirmed that the suspect from Mooi River worked on the Vickers’ farm previously as a subcontractor for fencing.
“We are happy that we managed to implicate all the men and hope to build a stronger case,” said Const Nzimande.
The suspects will reappear in the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court on August 5.
