On Wednesday, the Vryheid Regional Court sentenced Sphamandla Samkelo Buthelezi (35) to life imprisonment for raping a woman (78).

In May 2017, the victim, who lived alone, was attacked at her home in Nhlazatshe.
Buthelezi was aware she lived alone and is said to have assaulted and raped her on more than one occasion.
A case of rape was opened at the Gluckstadt Police Station and was transferred to the Vryheid FCS Unit for investigation.
