Suspects appear in court after house robbery, shoot-out with police

Two suspects involved in a shoot-out with police following a house robbery in Weenen on Tuesday evening, July 23, appeared in court yesterday (Friday, August 23).

They appeared in the Weenen Court since failing to get bail.

An elderly businessman and his wife were attacked at their residential premises in Weenen.

It is alleged that three armed robbers accosted the man as he was arriving home. The businessman was assaulted in his garage by two of the suspects.

The third entered the house and assaulted the man’s wife. The robber demanded cash and the safe key from her.

Police received a report of the robbery and responded to the scene. A shoot-out ensued between police and the robbers, and two arrests were made.
