A man who raped a 22-year old woman last year has finally been put behind bars.

The young woman, who is originally from Dundee, is said to have been walking with her boyfriend near the open, undeveloped area next to Vryheid Comprehensive School when they were accosted by the three men.
“The victim was visiting her boyfriend and they were walking to a party when the incident occurred,” said Officer T.S. Gule of Vryheid SAPS.
One of the men is said to have approached the boyfriend, demanding he hand over his possessions, while the arrested suspect approached the young woman and reached into her pockets.

“When he searched her, he found nothing but a gas lighter in one of her pockets and is said to have told her that since she did not have anything for him, she had to ‘pay’ by sleeping with him,” said Officer Gule.
By this time, the victim’s boyfriend and the other two robbers had fled the scene.
