20 arrested in Steadville for public violence during protest action

Public Order Policing officers are still in the area, monitoring the situation

20 people were arrested by police officers earlier today (September 15) in Steadville for public violence.

The entire main road leading in and out of Steadville had been blocked off by the protesters with rocks and broken bottles.

It is believed that the protests in the area have been going on for over a week, with residents protesting due to houses that were supposed to be built in the area, yet have not been built.

At this stage, the roadway has been cleared and motorists can drive in and out of Steadville. However, motorists are urged to be cautious, as debris such as tyres and small stones are still on the road.

Public Order Policing (POP) officers are still in the area monitoring the situation so that it doesn’t turn violent again.
