Mr Hendricks told the Estcourt News that Mr Nthekiso has been hospitalised and that he had been informed of what had transpired.

A verbally upset Mr Hendricks said: “We have given strict instructions to our councillors not to attend any meetings.”

“We lay the blame on the Municipal Manager who insisted that Mr Nthekiso attended the Council Meeting today. They defied our party instruction,” he explained with disgust.

He went on to speculate that certain members of the council were aware of alleged sinister plots and did not take any proactive action to report it to the police to ensure the protection and safety of his councillors.

He thanks the Member of the Executive Council for Police and the KwaZulu-Natal Premier, who after being informed of the matter, agreed to provide extra security for both local AL Jama-ah councillors.
