It is alleged that on November 5, a couple in their 60s were arriving at their home in Van Der Stel Road when they were accosted by the six men, who robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint.

A case of armed robbery was opened at Ladysmith police station for investigation, and police immediately responded to apprehend the robbers.

Swift police action led to the arrest of all six men, who were spotted travelling along the Newcastle road. The getaway vehicle was seized for further investigation.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula greeted the speedy arrests with delight. “It is a great pleasure to witness such dedication from our police officers across the province who put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect the citizens of KwaZulu-Natal. Every day we hear of daring feats by police officers, as they arrest criminals fleeing from crime scenes and seize illegal firearms,” he said.
