Justice has been served, four years after the rape and abduction of a teenager.
28-year-old Sosha Lamulani Nkosi was convicted last week on three counts – kidnapping, rape and murder – in the Mtunzini Magistrates Court.
Nkosi was found guilty of abducting a 14-year-old girl in November 2015.
She was on her way to church at the KwaMnyandu area of Mahlabatini when Nkosi approached her and struck.
He tied the teenager up and kept her captive for a week, providing her only with water. Nkosi was also said to have repeatedly raped her.
The girl’s body was found almost a week later with her eyes gouged out.
Nkosi received seven years behind bars for kidnapping and a life prison term for both the rape and the murder.
Zululand SAPS Cluster Spokesperson, Captain Nkocy Gwala described the case as one of the saddest she had to deal with.
On December 10, an Intelligence Driven Operation was conducted in conjunction with the Vryheid K9 Unit on Stretch Crescent.
Three men were arrested for possession of allegedly stolen property, with 44,6 kilograms of copper valued at R2 200 confiscated by police.
During another Intelligence Driven Operation on December 12, which concentrated on stock theft, four men were arrested.
They were arrested at the Emadresini area of eMondlo.
The task team recovered several red Bonsmara cattle and calves to the value of R130 000, with two red Bonsmara calves to the value of R12 000, three slaughtering knives and an axe.
