Experience takes the helm at Ncome Correctional Services
In 2016, Area Commissioner Gina became Head of Centre at Leeuwkop's maximum security facility
Anthony Bekokwakhe Gina was appointed as the new Area Commissioner for the Ncome Management Area, KwaZulu-Natal region, on February 1.
He joined the Department of Correctional Services in 1984 and was propelled by his passion for the development of humanity, safety and security, and his dedication to serving the country as a public servant.
Gina started at Waterval Correctional Services as a Correctional Official (Warder).
He when went on to work at Zonderwater College, in Barberton and in Witbank, and later became an Social Auxiliary Worker in the Volksrust area until 1988.
He then resigned to study full-time.
Gina pursued a career in nursing and was later appointed as Divisional Head: Health Care at the Piet Retief Correctional Centre in 1993.
Driven by his passion, he progressed to become Head of Correctional Centres in Piet Retief, Standerton, Bethal and Leeuwkop Juvenile Prison.
For almost a year, he was the Head of Community Corrections in Bethal.
In 2016, Area Commissioner Gina became Head of Centre at Leeuwkop’s maximum security facility, where he served until his current appointment.
He holds a B. Tech degree in Correctional Services Management (2004) and a B.A. in Nursing Science degree (1999), which were both obtained through the University of South Africa.
Gina also has a Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing, which he obtained in 1992 at the Bonalesedi Nursing College in Krugersdorp and at Sebokeng Hospital, Vereeniging.
He has 31 years of experience within the Department of Correctional Services and is wished well in his new position.
