Baker serves up a platter full of hope for children

Botha said she exceeded her own expectations in raising an amount of more than R6 000

A simple cupcake is inspiring hope for those in dire need of medical assistance.
On February 15, Elmarie Botha baked and sold cupcakes in aid of the nonprofit organisation, Cupcakes of Hope.
The aim of the organisation is to raise awareness and funds for families in need of medical treatment.
This is all achieved through a shared love of baking.
Botha said she exceeded her own expectations in raising an amount of more than R6 000. She is a well known baker in town, and admitted the 421 cupcakes she made were done with ease, but wouldn’t have been as successful without the help of Elsie Coertse, Alicia Koekemoer and two very willing and helpful boys, Francois Botha en Sheldon Scheepers.
Botha is planning another Cupcakes of Hope sale on September 26, which is also National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer.
She was overwhelmed with the response from the community in her first event, with many more hopefully to come.
Botha, who lost her father to cancer, extended her gratitude to everyone who supported her in ‘a cause close to her heart’.
