Volksrust High’s hockey season off to a stormer

The first team girls had an excellent game of hockey, scoring four goals en route to victory.

Volksrust High School’s learners, staff and coaches are expecting a stellar hockey season this year.

The school started its hockey season off on March 3 against Ferrum High School, with three tough contests on the pitch.

Results for the matches were as follows:

The under-15 girls played an excellent match, winning 6-0. The Player of the Match was Nontobeko Mtembu.

The under-16 girls got the best in a tough encounter and won 1-0. Phiwu Mavuso was awarded the Player of the Match title.

The second team girls put the competition away by 4 goals to 0. Zoe Potgieter was hailed as the Player of the Match.

The first team girls also had an excellent game of hockey, and took home the victory 4-0.

Players of the match for the boys hockey teams were as follows: second team – Jacqué Husselmann, first team – Melokuhle Nkosi.

The school congratulates its teams and wishes them well for the season ahead.
