Couple’s dream wedding shattered by coronavirus fears

The couple’s dream wedding has been turned into a nightmare as they have had to drastically downsize the guest list for the pre-wedding rituals as well as the marriage ceremony

After a 14-year relationship, Pran Reddi (30) and Kamishka Kanai (26) were looking forward to taking their marriage vows in front of all of their friends and family in three weeks’ time.

However, the couple’s dream wedding has been turned into a nightmare as they have had to reduce the guest list for the pre-wedding rituals (April 10) as well as the marriage ceremony (April 11).

Instead of the 600 people that would be attending the pre-wedding ceremony on April 10 and the 300 invited for the wedding, the couple and their families have had to whittle down the guest list to 100 people for each function, with immediate family only.

Ms Kanai explained that cancelling or postponing the ceremonies was not a possibility and the families had the daunting task of ‘uninviting’ guests.

“We are very disappointed that it had to come to this but we cannot take the chance. If someone contracts the coronavirus, we will be criminally charged. To the people in Estcourt, unless you have been contacted specifically and invited to attend, we regret to inform you that you cannot attend,” explained Ms Kanai.
