Ladysmith police say people need to obey the lockdown rules

Police say it is imperative that non-essential businesses stay closed

Police and Public Safety in Ladysmith had a very busy first day of the 21-day lockdown.

Officers were out in their numbers to ensure that community members abide by the rules that were put in place by government for the duration of the lockdown.

Police warn that people need to follow the rules, otherwise it could lead to a person facing charges.

The SAPS also say that non-essential businesses need to be closed, as instructed.

One official commented that there were so many people in town today (March 27) , it looked like a Saturday morning.

The authorities urge people to please stay in their homes and travel only when it is deemed necessary.
