Ezakheni man busted for selling cigarettes and alcohol during lockdown

He is set to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate's Court

Swift action by Ezakheni police led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man who was breaking the law during the lockdown.

The man was found operating a business selling cigarettes and alcohol, which is illegal during the lockdown that is aimed at curbing the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Police spokesperson Captain BE Nyathi said the man was arrested at around midday on Saturday (April 4) and is currently in the holding cells at Ezakheni police station.

The alcohol and cigarettes were seized by police.

The man is set to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Monday, April 6).
