A new modus operandi used by robbers has come to the attention of Ladysmith police.
SAPS spokesperson Captain BE Nyathi said it is alleged that in the early hours of Friday morning (April 10), criminals attacked and robbed a family at their house in St Chad’s. The 48-year-old complainant was asleep in her house when she was woken up by three unknown suspects who were already in her room. They demanded money and cell-phones. The woman and her sister were forced to lie on the floor and cover themselves with a blanket.
Cell-phones, groceries, cash, shoes, a music system and bank cards were stolen.
Capt Nyathi said that two of the suspects were wearing balaclavas and SANDF jackets, and one was brandishing a firearm.
Ezakheni police are investigating a case of house robbery. No arrests have yet been made. Anyone who can help with information can contact the police on 0366361101 or use the ‘MySAPS’ police app.

Ezakheni police are also requesting assistance from the community with regards to a house robbery at St Chad’s Mission. It is alleged that on Thursday (April 9) at about 11pm, a 19-year-old female was asleep in her house near the Thusong Centre with her siblings when she was awoken by a bang at the door.
Three unknown suspects entered the room, two of them wearing SANDF jackets and balaclavas. One of them had a firearm. They pointed the gun at the family members, and demanded money and cell-phones.
They stole two cell-phones, a flat-screen TV and a DVD player. The family members were told to cover themselves with a blanket and threatened that they would be killed if they emerged from under the blanket.
