Quick-acting Ezakheni police officers arrested two suspects on Tuesday last week (April 21) after they tried to rob a woman who lives in Ezakheni.
According to police, the attempted robbery took place at about 1.30pm in Hambanathi Road, Ezakheni, where two armed men held a woman at gunpoint and demanded that she hand over her cell-phone.
It is alleged that the woman was at her home when she received a phone call from a private number. The caller requested her to meet with him (he was known to the victim) at a shop in Ezakheni, but she refused. It is alleged that two suspects then forcibly entered her house and tried to rob her.
When she fought back, one of them pulled out a firearm and held her at gunpoint.
Police received a tip-off and immediately went to the woman’s house.
Both suspects were arrested.
