Free screening and testing service for Covid-19 virus

Councillor Bertie Meiring has urged the residents of Newcastle to go for the Covid-19 screening.

Newcastle residents have been encouraged to make use of the free screening and testing service, for the Covid-19 virus.

The screening is happening at the Amajuba Mall today (May 6), near the entrance of Checkers.

Councillor Bertie Meiring has urged the community to go for the screening, “Please come and do the screening and possible testing if necessary. The Department of Health will be stationed there from 10am until 3pm. This is a free service. Testing ( if necessary ) will be done on the spot.”

Speaking at a recent launch of the Township Sanitisation Programme in Newcastle, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, announced that there have been eight confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Amajuba District (this includes Newcastle, Utrecht and Dannhauser) altogether. The Newcastle Advertiser has however confirmed that there are seven cases confirmed at health facilities in Amajuba District.
