Two people lost their lives after a fatal collision on the R103 near Colenso yesterday (May 23).

Shortly before noon, a Land Rover Discovery and a truck collided.

Emergency services were called out to the scene where they were met with a number of serious injuries and sadly, one death.

Several occupants were trapped inside the vehicles and the Jaws of Life had to be used to free them.

The death toll increased after a second person died in hospital later.
