Religious leaders pray for Newcastle and the world

Scripture reading was taken from the Gospel of John, Book 14 and Verse 15.

A group of 25 local religious leaders met at the Newcastle Municipality’s civic towers yesterday, to pray for the sake of the world. The gathering followed the ‘clarion call’ by President, Cyril Ramaphosa to host a national day of prayer.

Spaced apart according to social distancing regulations, the pastors, apostles and bishops began the one-and-a-half hour prayer session by singing popular hymns.

Pastor Muzi Dumakude, one of the organisers of the event, explained religious leaders would pray for Government and frontline workers across the globe, the church as a whole, pastors and the victims of Covid-19.

As stated by one of the speakers, Apostle Oss Mchunu, “We pray for our city, we pray for our country and we pray for our world.”
