Raging river of stinky sewage affects business in Main Road

Councillor Abbas Warasally has reported the problem on numerous occasions to the municipality, but nothing has been done as yet

Why Waste owner Mr Aslam Patel says there’s a “raging river of raw effluent” flowing along the service road that leads to his business premises.

Speaking to Mr Patel, he says that over the last three months, the problem has gotten out of hand to the point where customers don’t want to come to his business anymore due to the pungent smell of the pooling water.

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) councillor Abbas Warasally has reported the problem to the municipality on numerous occasions, but says that nothing ever gets done about it.

Cllr Warasally says so much sewer water is overflowing right next to the road that it has created somewhat of a wetland and a dam.

Both Mr Patel and Cllr Warasally are now urging the municipality to please attend to the problem, as it is a major health hazard to many people.
