Vryheid tap water still drinkable – Ntanzi

"It's a hoax! Nothing but fake news"!

AbaQulusi Municipal Manager Bonga Ntanzi has confirmed that tap water in Vryheid is still drinkable. This follows a recent social media report that urged Vryheid residents “not to drink tap water; residents have been told only to consume bottled water after scores of people were hospitalised for diarrhoea”.

“It’s a hoax! Nothing but fake news! It’s the third time I see this thing this year. Even when it appeared after those numerous diarrhoea cases last year, you remember that we insisted that all our tests gave our water a clean bill of health. It was the MEC for Health who rescued us by openly declaring that the diarrhoea was not waterborne. They are pulling this thing from that original fake report,” said Ntanzi. He added that he double-checked with municipal engineers on the status of water, “I have verified this with my engineers. There is nothing wrong with our water.”

Circulating social media report not true.
