Winter Knights want your winter wear

Warm clothes and blankets will be collected for those in desperate need this winter.

With winter now settling in, Ncandu 86 Round Table has decided it is the perfect time to launch its annual Winter Knights initiative.

The campaign kicked off this weekend past, at Newcastle Corner Spar.

“We began about two weeks ago but started approaching people for support this past weekend,” confirmed Ncandu 86 Round Table committee member, Clinton Sweeting.

The aim of the campaign, he said, was to collect blankets and warm clothes for those in desperate need.

“We are also collecting non-perishable food which we will make up into food hampers.”

Sweeting said despite many people battling through the month because of the nationwide lockdown, their organisation had received excellent feedback and many had already donated.

“We are hoping to get out this weekend as well,” he confirmed.

Residents are encouraged to assist the Winter Knights Campaign by donating warm clothes, blankets or non-perishable food by placing the items in a box set up at the entrance to Spar at Newcastle Corner.
